Accountability: December Goals + November Goals Recap

December Goals

November really was over in the blink of an eye, wasn’t it? One day I was posting November goals, the next I’m writing my November goals recap and posting my December goals. I love this time of year, and am trying to savor it. It can go by so fast, and then we have to wait a whole year for the holidays to roll back around. I’m trying to sit in this time of year and enjoy every moment of it.

Which is a great segue into my goals…

First up, November goals recap. Let’s see how I did:

Workout 4x per Week. I did not do this. I moved my body some, got into the gym on occasion, even made progress towards my overall health goals, but I didn’t workout four times a week like I wanted to. I’ve had a nagging hip injury that flared up and it made it difficult to move the way I want to, so I focused on moving as it was comfortable to do so and being grateful for that. And lots of dog walks!

Read 3 Books. I read four! The Ex-Hex (just okay – had ‘Hallmark movie’ potential, but didn’t quite have the Hallmark sparkle), Everybody Always (You MUST read this book – it’s incredible), The Final Gambit (I loved the Inheritance Games series so much!), and Night Swim (whew – that was a doozy). If you’re looking for a great uplifting read this holiday season, Everybody Always is it. Need something action-packed or a gift idea for a young adult that loves books? The Inheritance Games will be a huge hit.

Improve My Sleep Routine. I’m still terrible at sleeping. I’m still doing it to myself. Mostly because I can’t put the above books down and the next thing I know, it’s after midnight. But I’ve had a lot of thoughts on sleep and time and I’ll be sharing those in the next week or two…

Begin Christmas Shopping. Check! I’m a little over halfway done with Christmas shopping at this point. I’m aiming to go for quality in my gifts, not quantity, and so far, I feel like I’m nailing it. More on that below.

Start Planning My Montana Trip. Only made a tiny bit of progress on this, but see you in April, Montana!

Finish My Home Office. My home office has become a Christmas staging area for gifts and decor and I’ve resigned myself to the fact that there is no sense in trying to organize it while it’s piled with Christmas presents to wrap, all the wrapping supplies, and all the Christmas decor items that somehow keep appearing. It’s like I can’t quit buying Christmas decorations…

Publish 2 Blogs Per Week. While I didn’t publish 2x per week, I did publish the number of blogs I wanted to, so I’m going to consider this goal met!

Sign Up For Golf Lessons. Still dragging my feet on signing up for golf lessons, but in my defense, it has been COLD in Nashville, and your girl doesn’t do cold. I’m also fairly confident the woman I intend to sign up with isn’t teaching another class until after the new year. Moving this goal to January.

November goals were about fifty-fifty, weren’t they?

Let’s set December’s goals:

Quality Over Quantity. I mentioned this above, but I’m very focused on quality of gifts vs. quantity of gifts. I know some people get so stressed out over how much is under the tree – my mom used to – but I’ve never agreed with that. Shouldn’t it be about the quality of the gift? The thought that was put into it? So far, I can say each gift I’ve bought has been selected with intention for the person receiving it, rather than just to get something under the tree with their name on it.

Read Three Books. I’m two books away from my goal of reading 26 books for the year, and well on my way to knocking those out. I’m all about those holiday rom-coms right now… As well as a great self-help read I can’t wait to share once I finish it!

Organize My Home Office. Making this a December goal as I know I can get it done this month! Once those gifts are wrapped and under the tree and the space is cleared out, it will be game on. What better way to go into the new year than to have a freshly organized office?

Revamp My Website. I’ve already been working on this behind the scenes. I need to rearrange a few things on my website to make way for my 2023 plans, and I’ll be pushing those changes live throughout the month. So excited for you to see them!

Revamp My Newsletter. I did a great job of sending my newsletter earlier this year and then I moved and the wheels fell off the wagon. I’m bringing it back – you can sign up on the homepage! – and it’s going to be better than ever!

Relaunch My Coaching Programs. Yep, you read that right! I needed a little break from coaching and so I took it when the opportunity presented itself. The break did what I needed it to do – it put things into perspective and showed me that I REALLY love to coach. I’ve missed it and I’m so excited to bring it back! If you’re interested, shoot me an email or DM me on Instagram

Finish My “Cairo” WIP. If you missed it, I started an Instagram for my writing and have been sharing a lot of “behind the scenes” about what I’m working on, one of those things being a WIP that involves witches, romance, and a real-life abandoned town. I just tripped the 50k mark and I’d love to finish the messy first draft this month. I’ve been averaging 10-12k words/week recently so I think I can do it!

That’s it for my December goals – a lot of professional/entrepreneurship goals for the month that I’m really excited about. I’m eager for 2023 and the goals I’m already starting to set for Q1, but I’m also intentional in not rushing this season away. I want to be more present and take it all in, savor this season before it’s January and we find ourselves in the doldrums of winter once more.

What are your December goals?
