Owning Your Sh*t and the Law of Attraction

08/05/2019 By Sarah Wyland

5 Aug

Here’s something you may not know about me.  I’m a big believer in the Law of Attraction and manifestation.  I won’t hold it against you if you leave now. I get it. The Law of Attraction and manifestation can be considered some pretty New Age stuff. It’s a bit too “woo woo” for some ... Read More about Owning Your Sh*t and the Law of Attraction

Introducing… The Balanced Company

08/02/2019 By Sarah Wyland

2 Aug

According to Facebook memories, August 1 has historically been a pretty good day for me. I’ve been in London, attending Wicked on West End (3 years ago), wine tasting with an eclectic group of friends (4 years ago), team building Amazing Race style at Keswick Hall (5 years ago), and celebrating my ... My low FODMAP Diet Experience + Results

07/30/2019 By Sarah Wyland

30 Jul

For most of the last two months, eating has felt like a science experiment.  After complaining of a host of stomach issues, including pain and near constant bloating, for most of my life, I asked my new nurse practitioner if we could investigate further. She was the first ... Read More about My low FODMAP Diet Experience + Results

The Hillbilly Fiasco: My Worst Date Ever

07/29/2019 By Sarah Wyland

29 Jul

I very rarely talk about dating in a public space such as social media or my blog. One, there is another person involved and its poor taste (in my opinion) to publicly post about them without their consent. Two, until I feel like things are in a mutual, monogamous place, I don’t much see the point ... Read More about The Hillbilly Fiasco: My Worst Date Ever

Trusting the Master Weaver – How the Bayeux Tapestry and a Poem Answered My Prayer

07/02/2019 By Sarah Wyland

2 Jul

In the days after my mom passed away, I struggled with the question most people ask when someone close to them dies far too soon:  Why?  I spent a lot of time asking God this question - why my mom? Why now? She was only 54. She had two more kids to see graduate from college. All ... Read More about Trusting the Master Weaver – How the Bayeux Tapestry and a Poem Answered My Prayer

Instagram post 2187426556577939809_12580275 My grandma is 91 and my life goal is to be as cool as her at that age. Says what she wants, wears what she wants, does she wants, still makes a mean chocolate pie, and can rock a piano like no one else. Happy Thanksgiving!
Instagram post 2186474031146129133_12580275 Have you eaten today? With Thanksgiving tomorrow, there’s a thought of “don’t eat too much today or tomorrow so we have room for dinner.” NO. Your body needs fuel. And if you’re starving when the turkey is carved, you may inhale your meal instead of savoring it and the time with your family and friends you’re sharing your day with.
.
Eat today. Eat breakfast tomorrow. And when the pie is sliced, don’t worry about how many calories or macros are in it - that’s not what Thanksgiving is about.
.
We talk about a lot of this in my Strong By Sarah Holiday Challenge which starts Monday - link in bio to join us! And don’t forget - 10% of each enrollment fee is donated towards paying off student lunch debts at local schools!

Instagram post 2185407234033116403_12580275 **Holy Sh*T** (And OMG I actually posted this...)⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I knew there would be a big physical difference in my #decadechallenge, but I honestly didn't expect THIS much. 2009 Sarah was about 20lbs lighter than her heaviest weight, unhealthy, and not entirely unhappy, but also not living her best life. She would have laughed really hard if you would have told her she would be a competitive athlete and fitness coach in ten years.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The bigger change? How much confidence 2019 Sarah has. I'm a lot smarter about health and nutrition. I'm eating 2,000+ calories a day for the first time in years, lifting more than I ever thought of, and I know I'm a damn good coach, capable of coaching others the RIGHT way, with GOOD health practices.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I used to be so embarrassed of my "fat girl" photos. Several years ago, I scrubbed the internet of them as best I could. I don't remember why now, but I untagged a lot of photos and deleted even more. Now though? I'm pretty proud of those photos. It's a part of my story that's meant to be shared, not hidden away.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I reflected more on what I learned on the Decade Challenge over on my blog - the link is in my bio. Give it a read and let me know below if you did the Decade Challenge and what you learned from it.

Instagram post 2175202689516165146_12580275 Go on a *double tap* if this hits you in the feels. I’ve been the queen of “what if” but I’ve been changing my mindset to “even if” lately and doing “it” anyway- doing it scared, doing it feeling not quite ready, doing it even when I don’t know how. And one more time, shoutout to @google for always having the answers to my “how do I” questions.
.
Fear really gets in the way. Being fearless is easier said than done, but as my guru @taylorswift said, being fearless isn’t being without fear. It’s having fear, but doing it anyway. And that’s the definition of acting on faith. The “even if.”
.
What’s your “even if” right now?
Instagram post 2174489820155802074_12580275 I *hate* the word “#hustle.” It makes my skin crawl, perhaps because it’s been glorified as a badge of honor, but also because a lot of you are using the word wrong in the first place.
.
I don’t hustle. I work my ass off. I work full time. I train four days a week. I coach personal training clients. I’m about to launch my first group coaching program. I spend 3 nights a week coaching gymnastics. I write blogs. I pick up freelance projects. I write fanfiction to unwind. I read my Bible every night and I journal every morning. I somehow manage to be a decent friend and go on a date here and there. I do not hustle.
.
I’m not bragging. I’m stating facts. This is where I’m at my best - when I’m juggling a dozen things and making it all work. I’m not hustling. I’m doing what I want to do. And you know what? I’m also not doing a damn thing I don’t want to do. I gave that up a long time ago.
.
I work hard. Clean-and-jerking this 47kg barbell I posted a photo of to get your attention is hard work. So is outlining this group program and creating all the components it needs. Shout out to @google for knowing all the answers to the things I don’t know how to do. And have you ever tried to teach 8 kindergarteners how to flip over a bar without letting go? This is why I like whiskey.
.
Stop saying you’re hustling. Hustling implies that you’re moving fast, rushing through life. You’re not hustling. You’re working hard. Know the difference and claim it. Unless you really are hustling. If you are hustling, slow the hell down and just work hard.
.
Hard work > hustling.
.
Tag a friend that needs to read this. It’s the friendly thing to do.
Instagram post 2170151586718134114_12580275 My Pumpkin Oatmeal Energy Balls recipe has been getting a lot of traffic recently, so I HAD to@make a batch.
.
Pumpkin, peanut butter, honey, oats, chocolate chips, vanilla, cinnamon. No baking required. Will power required to eat just one.
.
Kitchen hack? Use a cookie scoop to form the balls - so much quicker and less messier.
.

Instagram post 2165723287036206676_12580275 When Coach jumps in for a partner deadlift but there’s a slight height difference. 😂 Looks like a 475lb lifesaver roll. Such a fun night at Night of the Living Deadlift at @crossfitlocal last week! Except for that running part.
