This week’s TIP TUESDAY? Let the first draft be ba This week’s TIP TUESDAY? Let the first draft be bad.
I’m talking about dating (or, um, NOT dating?) ove I’m talking about dating (or, um, NOT dating?) over on Substack today. Link in bio if you want to chat about dating, not settling for the guy who checks *most* of the boxes, and being a romance author without a romance.
I “one more chapter’d” my way into staying up unti I “one more chapter’d” my way into staying up until 2am to finish a book, knowing I had to teach a 6:30am Pure Barre class. No regrets, will absolutely do it again.
I drove out to the most enchanting bookstore and e I drove out to the most enchanting bookstore and emporium today - @wellingtonsquarebookshop in Exton! They also have a coffee bar. 😍 I left with a book of poetry, but I’m going to need to go back for the Dolly mug I can’t stop thinking about.
PHILLY/MAIN LINE ROMANCE AUTHORS! I randomly poste PHILLY/MAIN LINE ROMANCE AUTHORS! I randomly posted on Threads a few weeks ago to ask if any area romance authors might be interested in a meet up. I figured maybe one or two may want to get coffee, and it was a way for me, someone new to the area and looking for her people, to maybe make a few new friends. To my surprise, more than two dozen folks expressed interest AND @shopbrokenspine graciously offered to host! And so - our first romance author meet up is the calendar! This event is for authors only, whether you’re published or working on your first manuscript. Writing can be lonely, and this is a chance to meet fellow romance authors, talk about what we’re working on, what we’re reading, and the ups and downs of the journey. And, hopefully, you’ll make some new friends, too! If this goes well, I’m hoping to make this a quarterly or so thing, maybe meeting up around the Main Line. Registration is required - see the link in my bio, and I’ll share details and updates both here and via email. I’m so excited about this! DM me with any questions! And another HUGE thank you to Cassie and @shopbrokenspine! 💕😍
TIP TUESDAY: My best tip for how to be a better wr TIP TUESDAY: My best tip for how to be a better writer (besides writing more, of course!) Leave your thoughts, questions, and ideas for Tip Tuesday in the comments! With that said, what are you reading right now? I’m reading THE IRRESISTIBLE URGE TO FALL FOR YOUR ENEMY and having a great time! #writingabook #indieauthor #writingtips #authortips #romanceauthor
Yesterday, I announced the release date for my nex Yesterday, I announced the release date for my next book, POLITICAL DAMAGE. Today, I finished the first draft of book one in my firefighter romance series. 🥹 123,500 words exactly, more than half of which have been written in the last 3 months. It needs a heavy edit, and then another, but this will be the first book I take out in search of an agent. And so, I type “THE END” with a quiet hope that things are about to get really, really good. 💕
Lyla and Kage’s story concludes in POLITICAL DAMAG Lyla and Kage’s story concludes in POLITICAL DAMAGE, out November 19th. Have tissues. And maybe a sleeve of Double Stuf Oreos. And remember, romance books are contractually obligated (in a sense) to have a happy ending. 🖤 Preorder the ebook at the link in my bio. The paperback will be available on release day everywhere paperbacks are sold online (I suggest requesting it from your local indie!) Read the full release announcement on my website - link in bio! (P.S. - “Bad Spot” by Kip Moore is Kage’s soundtrack for this book - give it a listen). 🖤🖤🖤 The danger may be over, but the damage is far from done. Lyla Adler and Kage Kensington should finally have the chance to build the life they’ve fought so hard for. But the truth has left scars they don’t know how to heal, and the sudden reappearance of a ghost from Kage’s past threatens to unravel everything they’ve come to count on. With all of his secrets now out in the open, Kage finds himself confronting the demons he’s spent years trying to outrun. Lyla is fighting battles of her own, and neither knows how to save the relationship they’ve sacrificed so much to protect. Lyla and Kage have survived betrayal, secrets, and unimaginable danger. But with their relationship pushed to the breaking point, they must face a question neither is prepared to answer: Will love be enough this time?
