My Current Work-In-Progress List
My mind is always churning up a new work-in-progress. I voice noted my friend just last week about a brand new idea I had while washing dishes. I may be actively engaged in a meeting at work, but most likely, there’s a corner of my mind daydreaming a scene for a romantasy or else thinking something along the lines of “what if there was this character who did this thing…” I’ll never not have multiple work-in-progress projects going on at the same time. Some folks are mood readers (I am!), but me? I’m a mood writer. Some days I want to write spice and some days I want to write magic, you know?
With my mood writing in mind, here is my current work-in-progress list – or at least part of it…
Of Snow Globes and Gingerbread
Of Snow Globes and Gingerbread is a sticky-sweet but also a little spicy novella that I plan to release as an e-book ahead of Christmas. I wrote it a couple of Christmases ago while watching Hallmark Christmas movies and decided to bring it back to life a bit last minute for a 2024 release. Work-obsessed Cooper Marshall finds himself helping his grandmother, Ruth, move from her comfortable home in Indianapolis and back to her hometown of Bell Buckle, Tennessee. His plan is simple: work remote through the holidays, help her get settled, and return to his Chicago condo and downtown office. Travel journalist Halston Gavin is giving her passport a well-deserved rest to write a book and reconnect with her family. When she crosses paths with Cooper, sparks fly and a holiday fling follows. Except… Only one of them knows it’s a fling.
Keep an eye out for a release date soon…
“Strictly Business”
I’m using quotes around my “Strictly Business” work-in-progress because I’m not sure what the title is yet! This standalone with series potential is deep in the editing phase for an early 2025 release. It features Beckett Wade, a rough around the edges country music singer who loves the outdoors, and Olivia Alexander, a newly-minted marketing director with something to prove. She needs Beckett to sign on as a spokesman for her client. He will only agree if he gets to test the equipment first – with her. Her idea of being outdoors is a glass of wine on a patio, but soon she finds herself hiking, campling, and climbing rocks with Beckett – and falling for the guy who is hell bent on never falling in love.
The Political Gain Series
Y’all, I am SO EXCITED about the Political Gain series. You see, I wrote a Fourth Wing fanfiction that was supposed to be a few spicy chapters about a girl sneaking around with her brother’s best friend. It turned into so.much.more. Over the course of seven months, I wrote more than 300,000 words of romance, political games, and so many secrets with an undertone of mental health struggles and our characters asking themselves how far are they willing to go for revenge – and will they go even further for love? By the time it was done, I realized it was barely a Fourth Wing fic anymore. It had become something entirely of it’s own, something I can’t believe I wrote. Something I cannot believe people read and loved, that encouraged people to share some of their own stories and struggles with me. I’ll wait to wax poetically about all things Political Gain, but know it’s coming.
The Political Gain fanfiction currently posted on AO3 will be broken into three novels and go through a heavy editing process to make them fully original. From there, there will be two more books in the universe. I cannot emphasize enough how excited I am to get this series into the world. The first two, maybe even first three (!!!) books will be released in 2025. This series… It feels special. It might be the one that changes my life. Time will tell.
Unnamed Romantasy
I went to Iceland in 2017 and left with a deep attachment to the country. It’s truly a place you need to see to believe. For years now, I’ve been thinking “it would be such a cool place to set a story.” And so, finally, I have started a romantasy set in an Iceland-inspired world where fire and ice are plentiful. I’m very early into this journey, but so far, we have elemental magic, a fire and water wielding MMC, an “absolute” FMC, and political intrigue. I don’t know where this thing is going, but in my head, it will ultimately be a trilogy. This one is a long ways from seeing the light of day, if it ever does, but I sure am having fun with it right now.
I’m also writing more Fourth Wing fanfiction – check out Out Of the Ashes – and planning a few Political Gain one-shots. What can I say? We love a work-in-progress around here!
Keep an eye out for novella news very soon!
