9 Bible Verses for the Single Woman
I love Valentine’s Day. Even though I’m single, I celebrated, more so this year than in years past with the belief that I’m spreading love while also inviting love in. That’s been a thing with me, lately – inviting love in. Opening the door to it, saying “hey, good to see you, come on in, stay a while.” Keeping my heart open.
I get it though – Valentine’s Day can be hard for the single woman. I’ve had some pretty sad/bad Valentine’s Days in the past myself, both single and when in a relationship. When I’m struggling with my singleness, I have a few Bible verses I turn to. I’m sharing them with you today, in case you need them, too.
Here are 9 Bible verses for the single woman.
Blessed is she who has believed that the Lord would fulfill what he has spoken to her! – Luke 1:45
I say this verse over many areas of my life. It’s even written on a white board in my home office. I know what God has promised me – and I know that He will keep His promises in His time, no matter how great my plan is.
Charm is deceptive and beauty is fleeting, but a woman who fears the Lord will be praised. – Proverbs 31:30
When I begin to compare myself to others, married, or otherwise, I refer back to this verse to remember where to turn my focus.
“For I know the plans I have for you”—this is the Lord’s declaration—“plans for your well-being, not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.” – Jeremiah 29:11
We all know this verse – for good reason. It is a reminder that God has plans for each and every one of us and that they are good.
There is an occasion for everything, and a time for every activity under heaven. – Ecclesiastes 3:1:
It’s not my timing. It’s God’s timing. And that timing is and will be perfect, no matter how much I think I know best, no matter how many ways I try to speed things along, no matter how often I pray for Him to hurry up already.
We know that all things work together for the good of those who love God, who are called according to his purpose. – Romans 8:28:
Everything happens for a reason. I truly believe that. Sometimes it is a lesson, sometimes it is a blessing, but there is always a reason. God has a plan for all of those heartbreaks and ghosted first dates.
He had four unmarried daughters who prophesied. – Acts 21:9
God uses women – single and married – to do great things. He can and will use me, too. He will use you, as well.
Who knows, perhaps you have come to your royal position for such a time as this. – Esther 4:14
Right now, in this singleness, I’m where God needs me to be. I have been created for such a time as this, right now. I am exactly where I’m supposed to be – just like you.
Come to me, all of you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. – Matthew 11:28
When my heart hurts, I pray this verse for comfort. I pray it when I’m upset with God, too, when I feel like He isn’t listening, that He isn’t working on my behalf. I pray it when I feel guilty for feeling upset with God, too.
Young women of Jerusalem, I charge you by the gazelles and the wild does of the field, do not stir up or awaken love until the appropriate time. – Song of Solomon 2:7/3:5/8:4
This verse is repeated 3 times in Song of Solomon. That means it’s important. It reminds me to wait for the RIGHT one, not the one right in front of me. I pray for God’s best – and this verse keeps me firm in that prayer.
If you’re in a season of singleness, I hope these verses bring you comfort. If you have another verse you love, share it in the comments?
