One Day You Will

Whitney Loving

I wrote about a local family’s unshakable faith. Their daughter, Whitney, was in a terrible car accident and suffered severe head trauma. In the face of grim odds, her family stood strong in their faith, and prayed for healing, that God’s will be done.

Whitney went home to Jesus at 2AM this morning. She was surrounded by her family as she passed. They sang “How Great Is Our God,” their arms lifted to Heaven to help lift Whitney to meet her Father. While they are heartbroken, they are also rejoicing. You can read her mother’s Facebook post about her passing here. I encourage you, very much, to read it.

More than 11,000 people are a part of the #PrayForWhitneyFaith Facebook group. Nearly very minute for almost two weeks, people from around the world have been posting prayers, inspirational stories, songs, and photos. Many have posted about how Whitney, a beauty queen who declared that she wanted to use her title to spread God’s love, and her family brought them closer to God. This 16 year old girl, with a beauty that came from the inside, brought 11,000+ people together in the name of God. She was sent here to do God’s work. To be an angel on earth. She did God’s work in a sweeping and incredible way.

Whitney stood on John 13:7. It was on the license plate of the Jeep she was driving, and on her class ring which her family now wears. That verse reads as follows:

Jesus replied, “You do not realize now what I am doing, but later you will understand.”

Whitney’s time on earth was short, but her impact will live on. Even in their heartbreak, her family is rejoicing in the Lord because their daughter has gone home. She wears the golden grown, covered in the jewels of the souls she helped bring closer to God. It is my belief that Whitney knew all along that she was put on earth to do something special, something some may not understand, but that was bigger than her or you or I. Her middle name was even “Faith.”

I encourage you to read the posts on the #PrayersforWhitneyFaith Facebook group, especially those from her mother and grandmother. Witness their faith. Feel their love.

Please keep this family in your thoughts and prayers as they move forward, without one of their daughters, but with the knowledge that she was so loved and inspired so many.

God is still God in things we don’t understand; and it sounds like everyone in this situation kind of grasps it, but still it’s SO HARD to pray for things – pray with COMPLETELY FAITH for things – and then have those prayers seem to end up void, you know? sometimes when stuff like this happens i’m like “yeah, i don’t understand God and maybe i don’t want to.” ugh. praying for her family + friends <3
