HIIT & Core Workout

HIIT and Core Workout | Sarah Wyland

I’m more than halfway through Whole30 and feeling pretty good about it. Usually this is the point where I start to think “only X more days…” and begin planning my first non-Whole30 meal (it’s always peanut butter. Always). This time, I’m preparing to start the Whole Life Challenge tomorrow. I’m looking forward to it – it’s a competition, for starters, and I love competition – but it will also be a good way for me to focus on a few areas I need improve in, namely sleep and mobility.

Mobility might seem like an odd area for me to be hyper focused on if you’ve seen me in the gym. I’ve got pretty decent mobility, and I do spend some time foam rolling and going through various exercises to stay that way. I can always do better, though, and now that my teaching load has lightened, I’m going to give more time to things like RomWod and yoga.

Speaking of yoga, I’m taking my first ever hot yoga class this weekend. I can’t believe I’ve never taken a hot yoga class, but its true. I’m sure I’ll Instagram how it goes. It’s a three-day weekend, too, so I plan to relish that for all its worth with social outings, reading, and getting a bit more sleep. I’ve got some “homework” I need to knock out too – it probably says a lot about who I am as a person that I’m excited to sit down and work for several hours this weekend, but as they say, when you’re doing what you love, you’re not working.

On to the free workout for the week!

This week, I’m sharing one of the at home workouts from my Strong By Sarah program. I love a good bodyweight workout, especially when I don’t have time to make it to the gym, or I’m training for a weightlifting meet. This is not only from my program, it’s also one of my favorites. I also threw in the core work for that day’s programming as well!

AMRAP – As Many Rounds As Possible. A round is all four exercises; modify as needed, for example, by substituting air squats for squat jumps, or doing push ups from the knees.

What are your weekend plans? What should I know about hot yoga?

Happy Friday!
