When I say “what a week,” I mean it. To say that work – work as in my “real job” – has been a rollercoaster ride these last couple of weeks would be an understatement. It’s all about perspective, however, so I’m choosing to see opportunity and looking forward to what our team can and will accomplish in the coming months.
Things at the studio are moving along nicely as well. I’ll post an update soon on progress, but I’ve got walls with paint now. With luck, we’ll have the ceiling and floors in next week. I ordered barres this week and I’m hopeful those will arrive by end of next week. I have two instructors training this weekend, and two more that will train soon. It’s so hard for me to believe that within the month, I’ll have an up and running studio.
Here’s to hoping I’ll have students!
We’ve also had some rollercoaster weather in Chapel Hill this week. It’s been rainy, it’s been sunny, it’s been blazing hot, and yesterday, it was the perfect late(r) summer temperature – not too hot (only 85!), and low humidity. In honor of the slightest hint of fall (which is still so far off, especially for us in the south), today’s workout is all outside.
Your legs will love/hate this one, especially on a third or fourth round! We did a similar WOD at CrossFit Local a few weeks ago, but for 20 minutes, minus squats, post a lifting session, and I learned quickly to pace myself – don’t go out too hot! 400m is the equivalent to a quarter mile, and while I’ve written this to just be bodyweight, you can grab some light weights or kettlebells for those lunges and squats if you really want to.
As much as I hate running, I’ll be running today, too – five rounds of 800m coming my way! At least the work is split with a partner?
I’m going to War of the WODs in Greensboro tomorrow to cheer on a couple of teams competing from my box. I’m sure I’ll post a few Instagram stories! Who knows? Maybe I’ll even sign up to compete in the February one. I think I’ll make my favorite No Bake Almond Oat Bars (or “yum yum bars” as a few of my friends call them!) to take tomorrow – they’ll need to stay fueled between WODs, and these are my go-to competition day snack since they’re packed with protein and healthy carbs to fuel performance.
What are you up to this weekend?
