I owe my bank account a massive apology.
It started with a peruse of Target’s website. I stumbled across the perfect outdoor furniture for my balcony. It was 20% off, so I purchased it. Two days later, it was 50% off. I tweeted Target expecting nothing, but they quickly and happily did a price adjustment and so, hello perfect 50% off patio furniture. It should arrive tomorrow!
Then, Prime Day happened. I didn’t need an Echo, but it was 50% off (seeing a trend here?). It arrived yesterday and I set it up at eleven last night. By 11:05, I was wondering how I lived without it.
Because we weren’t done with buying all the things yet, the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale started yesterday. I snagged quite the haul for next to nothing, once their checkout finally worked. The technically issues resulted in me ordering THREE times over. Because Nordstrom’s customer service is the best of the best, they were able to cancel most of the duplicates, but a lot had already shipped. They make returns so easy though that it is no big deal.
Have you picked up anything from the Nordstrom sale yet? There are a couple of pairs of boots I’m still eyeing… #Idontneedmoreboots I’ll share my finds next week!
Now, on to the links I’m loving this week.
My Running Shoes Were Too Old: Confession. I haven’t bought new running shoes in almost 3 years. I’m headed to Ragged Mountain Running Shop after work today to pick up a new pair after reading this article.
6 Things I Learned When I Stopped Weighing Myself: I love this article. We give the number on the scale so much power. I’m so much happier with my body now that I’m not weighing every day. Read more about that in my Why I Fired My Nutrition Coach post.
Drinking Coffee Lowers Risk of Death: As an avid coffee drinker, this study that says coffee lowers your risk of death from all causes is music to my ears. Although I’m a bit over the 2-3 cups a day recommendation… By a lot. I see sounds most of the time.
How I Stopped Checking My Phone: I’m the person who falls asleep with my phone in my hand. I don’t want to be so attached to it, but here we are. This article has realistic tips for putting some distance between you and your screens.
Foods For Productivity: I love my mid-afternoon (and mid-morning, who are we kidding?) snacks. I was pleasantly surprised to find several foods I eat almost daily on this list. Bananas are a favorite pre-workout snack!
How To Change Your Relationship With Food: These articles are a dime a dozen, but this one is actually feasible. I especially liked the tip about replacing a habit before you remove a habit. That seems so much more reasonable than going cold turkey on, say, sugar.
The Power of Saying No: I was talking to a few people on Monday evening about the importance of protecting my time. I read this article on the power of saying “no” a couple of days later and it really resonated with me.
Lululemon’s Pottery Barn Teen Collaboration: Because I need more Lululemon in my life… Lululemon has teamed up with Pottery Barn Teen for a home decor line. It’s a little too college dorm for my taste, but if I were moving into a dorm this fall, I’d be all about it.
Unspoken Rules of the Gym: As a fitness instructor, personal trainer, and avid gym-goer, I want to print this article on unspoken gym rules and post it EVERYWHERE. I agree with everything in this article – drop the weights carefully and stay for a stretch, y’all!
