About once a month, I like to do a ‘Currently’ post – just a quick update on the things I’m currently enjoying, doing, eating, you get the idea. It’s a great way to share things I’m doing and loving with you all, but it’s also a fun way for you to tell me some of the things you’re up to! I’m calling this “Volume 1” as I haven’t actually labeled any in the past. May as well start keeping track!
Here is what I’m currently up to.
Watch: A friend told me to watch The Wire at least a year ago. My dad, who watches virtually no TV whatsoever, has seen the entire show, start to finish, and raves about it. Last weekend, during a mindless scroll through On Demand, I selected the first episode. Y’all, it’s so good. I’ve only watched the first five episodes, but I feel like I could easily navigate the Baltimore drug scene now.
I’m also one of the people crying over This Is Us. Talk about a show that just rips your heart out week after week… I go to bed as soon as it ends. I’m too emotionally exhausted to do anything else! Now that the season finale has aired (I won’t give anything away!), it’s like… What do I do on a Tuesday now?
Speaking of finales, I watched The Vampire Diaries series finale last Friday. I hadn’t watched the show in at least three seasons, but I felt like I owed it to my college self to see the final episode. I thought it was really well done. I even shed a few tears. Over vampires.
Read: I’m reading How to Be A Badass right now, and I can’t recommend it enough. It’s just the kind of “get your sh*t together and live the life you want” message I need right now. I’m just about finished with it and will do a review for the blog. I’m starting All The Light We Cannot See next.
Listen: This is the time of year when new music starts rolling out week after week and it makes me so happy. I’ve been listening to Little Big Town’s The Breaker on repeat. Such a sonically good album. “Don’t Die Young, Never Get Old” is a favorite. Kip Moore’s “More Girls Like You” is also in rotation, as are the five tracks Charlie Worsham released from his The Beginning of Things album that comes out next month. I’m looking forward to seeing him and Brandy Clark at The Southern in a few weeks.
Eat: I’m on the third day of my Working Against Gravity plan, and I’m eating everything – at least everything that has protein in it. I’ve been making quesadillas this week. So simple, yet so good. And when I say quesadillas, I mean they go into the pan with the intention of being a quesadilla and come out tasting like one, but looking more like a sandwich on tortillas. It’s a struggle.
Last night’s big win? Realizing a serving of peanut butter Halo Top would put me exactly at my macro goals for the day. Praise hand emojis all around. Obviously I made sure there was room for another serving tonight.
Buy: The changing of the season makes me want to buy everything. I’m looking for a new purse right now. This Sole Society bag is a real contender, as is this one, but I keep looking at these totes as well.
Do: I’m training for the Festivus Games and a Strong(wo)man competition. Festivus is a sort of scaled down CrossFit games that focuses on conditioning while Strong(wo)man is an entirely different beast. Festivus is in April and I feel pretty good about it. Strong(wo)man isn’t until July – I’ve got plenty of time to figure out how to pull a truck by then. Yep – you read that right. Stay tuned for how that works out for me.
I had a tough training session this morning, so tough I think I’m going to have to sit out of the noon barre class I usually take on Wednesdays to give my body a little more recovery time before I teach tonight. Tomorrow is a total rest day, and I definitely need it.
