I’m not usually a “we made it to Friday!” kind of person, but friends, WE MADE IT TO FRIDAY.
I’ve worked my “real” job for the last twelve days in a row thanks to Inauguration. While my work-life balance is usually pretty hard to beat, the last two weeks have been the exception to the rule. Between traveling to D.C. for Inauguration and spending the weekend fielding emails and Facebook messages, it’s been busy.
But, we made it and here are 5 Things for Friday!
Junior League of Charlottesville’s Winter Soirée
The Junior League’s Winter Soirée is tonight and it’s Gatsby themed! I can’t resist a good Gatsby-themed party. I didn’t think ahead in enough time to secure a headpiece, so I’m going to either make do with the assortment of headbands I have or try to scrounge something up from one of the stores downtown this afternoon. I can’t wait to put on my sparkly dress and heels and dance with some of my dear friends!
I’ve been working behind the scenes to turn this blog into a real thing. As in, something professional looking that provides great content in the areas I’m interested in. I know we say all the time “I’m back to blogging!” but I really am. I have a business plan, content calendar – everything! It just feels like the right time, you know?
Having said that, I just signed up for a two month free trial of ConvertKit. I used Mailchimp previously, and while I didn’t hate it, I found it cumbersome to use – it just felt like too many clicks to do something relatively simple. I just started working with ConvertKit yesterday and I already love it – feel free to sign up for my soon to be newsletter – just look to your right and drop your name and email address on that form or scroll to the bottom!
There were rumors, but it has been confirmed that an Orange Theory is coming to Charlottesville! I love to try new workouts, and my friends rave about Orange Theory. The high burn circuit is just what I need to balance out my barre and weight lifting workouts. There’s no opening date yet, but I can assure you it can’t happen soon enough. Have you tried Orange Theory? Leave me a comment and tell me about it!
New York City
I read a great article on Refinery29 earlier this week called “Why NOT Living In NYC Is The Secret To My Career Success.” It was a really great perspective, especially for someone still trying to figure out what size city/town is right for them. I love visiting New York, but I know it’s not somewhere I could live – unless I lived Blair Waldorf style. In that case, I’d pack my bags, put Knox in his crate, and off to NYC we would go.
Beauty and the Beast
Is anyone else as irrationally excited to see the live action Beauty and the Beast as I am? A big group of my girlfriends have even managed to secure a private viewing. We’re also making t-shirts. There is literally no shame in our late 20s/early 30s game. Beauty and the Beast has always been one of my favorite Disney movies, right behind Cinderella. With my love of books and adventure, I basically am Belle. Except none of my “beasts” have managed to turn into a Prince – yet. Working on that. Check out the new posters Disney just released!
This weekend, I’m looking forward to celebrating a sweet friend’s baby shower and teaching a few barre classes, including one that’s especially for my weightlifting friends. I’m also looking forward to some downtime. If you need me Saturday night, I’ll be the one at home, catching up on this week’s episode of This Is Us since ACC basketball so rudely preempted it on Tuesday, and binging on Shameless.
What are your weekend plans? Anything you’re loving this Friday?
